Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is a British-American musician and sitarist. She won the British House of Commons' Shield, which is the youngest and first female recipient. Apart from nine Grammy nominations and nine Grammy nominations, she also became the first musician of Indian origin to perform at the award ceremony. Anoushka is the new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is a student and child of Ravi Shankar. She spent her childhood bouncing back and forth from London in the UK to New Delhi. When she was 13 she performed her debut performance at New Delhi. In the following years, in Encinitas CA she attended high school and graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman however she's got an amazing career in recording and performing. Her father has been with her on numerous occasions for many years. Her debut single album Anourag in the year 1998. She released the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year after. Stage performances are a important aspect of her life. She's played in many famous venues around the globe. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't limited to music. Bapi The love of my life is a illustrated biographical work she penned in 2002. It is a tribute to her father, who passed away in 2002. Ravi Shankar. The year 2003 saw her starred on Dance Like a Man as a Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shankar's career continues to unfold and we are likely to see a lot from her in years to follow. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent a lot of her youth living between London and Delhi after which she moved to California in the state where she attended high school. At the age of nine, she began studying music under her father making her performing debut with the sitar four years later during his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Anoushka was able to gain many valuable experiences by accompanying her dad when he toured the world. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals, as well as performing with George Harrison. The youngest female to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musicianship within music and the Asian Arts.
