Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is a British-American musician and sitarist. She won the British House of Commons' Shield, which is the youngest and first female recipient. Apart from nine Grammy nominations and nine Grammy nominations, she also became the first musician of Indian origin to perform at the award ceremony. Anoushka is the new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is a student and child of Ravi Shankar. She spent her childhood bouncing back and forth from London in the UK to New Delhi. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent a lot of her youth living between London and Delhi after which she moved to California in the state where she attended high school. At the age of nine, she began studying music under her father making her performing debut with the sitar four years later during his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Anoushka was able to gain many valuable experiences by accompanying her dad when he toured the world. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals, as well as performing with George Harrison.
